After reading the book Duck Rabbit, students were to write an opinion piece on what they saw, a duck or a rabbit. They then illustrated by coloring their animal as to what they saw. What do you see?
I had told the students we were going to conduct an experiment. As soon as those words came out of my mouth, Owen quickly raised his hand to correct me. "It's not an experiment, Miss Kreinberg. It is an eggperiement! Oh boy, the giggles we had after that comment! We planted jelly beans on Tuesday to see if a sucker would sprout. We checked Wednesday morning and sure enough each student had a sucker!
After reading the Jan Brett book, The Easter Egg, students had the opportunity to design their own incredible Easter egg.
First grade students listened to a series of speakers who spoke to us about their job in our community. We were fortunate enough to have three patents from our class speak. Izabell's mom spoke about driving a bus, Matthew's dad spoke about a surgical nurse, and Cali's dad spoke about the construction field. As well as our own classroom parents we heard from a police officer, dentist, IT, and more.
Congratulations to our three Young Author winners, Owen, Cali, and Izabell! Wonderful stories and a wonderful Saturday morning!
We tried our first attempt at using the selfie stick. If only you all could of heard the giggles from trying to get the perfect picture! We had some good laughs!
Ask your child about the different communities we studied this week. We ended the week with a fun project to help us remember.
