We read the book Tops and Bottoms, which taught us about farming and they way plants grow. We then completed an activity to reinforce the book! Thanks to the Monroe County Ag department for supplying the supplies and book!
Congratulations to Lily and Matthew for completing all 6 months of the Book-It program. The two got to eat lunch with me and I treated them to ice cream sundaes. Way to go friends!!!
The next time we have a break the kiddos won't be coming back, they will be headed to second grade 😔 #dreadingmay18 #lovethemall # savoringeveryminute
We had the opportunity for Owen's parents, Ben and Stacy, to speak to our class about farming. They brought a tub of soil and Ben planted corn. We are going to see how tall the corn grows by the end of the school year. This a great learning opportunity for the students as farming is dependent on weather. All the students made an estimate in how tall the corn will grow! Once again, thank you Stork family!!
To help reinforce the concept of a noun, the students created their own noun town together. We first had to brainstorm nouns that we could draw and add to our town. Then each student chose what they wanted to draw. We glued them on our town to have the finished product. The kiddos talked about this project for days and continued to think of more nouns to add!
